Lunar Scent Jewelry by Dhiya Fajar

LUNAR is a wearable fragrance diffuser and jewelry collection inspired by the celestial beauty and symbolism of the moon. The concept is rooted in three key elements: texture, form, and scent.

The moon’s crater-filled surface is the main visual inspiration, capturing not just its rough physical appearance but also evoking the imagination and mystery of outer space. This texture is faithfully interpreted through the use of dry cement, a material that uniquely mimics the moon’s surface while offering fragrance-absorbing properties.

LUNAR takes its form from the moon’s phases — crescent, half, and full — shaped by the calendar system, rotation, and sunlight reflection. These phases are reflected in the jewelry’s rounded, orbit-like silhouettes, combining function and symbolism.

What sets LUNAR apart is its use of dry or infused cement, a porous material that absorbs perfume and releases it slowly over time. Once a few drops of scent are applied, the aroma can linger for up to four weeks, making each jewelry piece a subtle, personal diffuser.

LUNAR is not just jewelry. It is a multisensory experience — a poetic blend of space, scent, and slow-crafted design that brings celestial inspiration down to earth.

Each piece is handmade in collaboration with Medividi, combining modern innovation with traditional Indonesian craftsmanship. The gold plating brass and stainless-steel components add elegance and durability to the product, enhancing its timeless aesthetic.

This project has been selected as a finalist for the 2024 Indonesia Fashion Craft Awards and honored with the Best Design award at the 2025 Good Design Indonesia.
